Just minutes ago, the peaceful skies over the eastern lands of Oz were torn open by a storm of unimaginable fury. A massive tornado — one unlike any ever recorded in this part of the realm — emerged from the Deadly Desert, spinning with malevolent force and carving a wide path of destruction through the Land of the Munchkins. Ancient farmland was uprooted. Entire villages, swallowed by shifting desert borders, vanished without trace. The storm’s advance halted only when it reached Central Masco, where it deposited an entire house onto the ceremonial platform — crushing the infamous Wicked Witch of the East, Nessarose Thropp.
At first, no one believed that anything living could have survived such a fall. The structure itself, exotic in design and clearly foreign in origin, was almost entirely intact — a feat which seemed either the product of powerful enchantment or staggering luck. But then, as the smoke cleared and murmurs filled the air, witnesses gasped: “Someone’s coming out of the house!”
From the threshold stepped a young girl, no older than fourteen, pale with shock but miraculously unharmed. She was accompanied by a small black dog. Her name, she said, was Dorothy Gale — a child not of Oz, but of a place called Kansas, a realm unknown to any cartographer in the Emerald Archives.
“I’m Dorothy Gale, from Kansas, and this is my little dog, Toto,” she said softly, almost dazed. “Could you help me? I want to go home…”
Dressed in a blue-and-white gingham frock and barefoot from the journey, Dorothy’s humble appearance stirred something deep within the people of Central Masco. Her arrival was hailed by some as divine intervention, and several villagers fell to their knees, proclaiming her a “living saint” sent to liberate them from the wicked rule of Nessarose.
Her choice of clothing — light in color, and notably blue, the symbolic hue of Munchkinland — led others to speculate that she might be a new Good Witch, or perhaps a rightful protector sent from beyond the known lands. In Munchkinland, prophecy often walks hand-in-hand with coincidence, and this event seemed to fulfill more than one ancient whisper.
Within minutes of her emergence, another extraordinary event unfolded: the skies shimmered, and from above descended the sovereign of the North, the Illustrious Locasta, riding the air currents beneath her silver umbrella. As Supreme Envoy of the Northern Magical Council, her arrival confirmed that the incident was of utmost magical and political importance.
Before addressing Dorothy, Locasta issued a public statement:
“I had long suspected Nessarose of harboring dangerous ambitions. Her studies of climatic alteration magic had gone unchecked for too long. When I discovered she intended to conjure a storm to decimate all the lands of Oz — sparing only her dominion in the East and that of her sister in the West — I took action. I inverted the spell and turned its force back upon her territory.”
But what Locasta had not foreseen was the interdimensional breach.
“It appears that the spell she unleashed collided with a natural tornado from another world. This convergence of forces pulled Dorothy’s house — and Dorothy herself — across realms. The event challenges our understanding of magical borders and suggests that the barriers between dimensions may be weakening.”
Understanding the peril of leaving the girl stranded in a land not her own, and recognizing the symbolic power she now carried, Locasta made a fateful decision:
“Dorothy must travel to the Emerald City and speak to the Wizard of Oz. He alone may possess the knowledge to return her home. But the road ahead will be long and perilous. Therefore, I bestow upon her the Silver Shoes — magical relics that once belonged to the fallen witch. They will offer her guidance and protection.”
This afternoon, as Munchkinland lit its lanterns and prepared for a grand feast at the estate of Boq, the region’s wealthiest resident, Dorothy Gale took her first steps along the Yellow Brick Road. With Toto at her side and the gleaming shoes upon her feet, she embarks on a journey that may one day change the very fate of Oz.
